Due to a tool-free mounting, the netJACK exchange module can be added at any stage in the supply chain. Equipped with a PCI Express host interface it addresses the embedded market with high-performance host CPUs, as PLCs, drives, laser controls and many more. For devices with traditional host interfaces, there are options with Dual-Port-Memory or SPI interface available.
All types have the compact design of a closed IP 40 module which can be mounted without using tools.. As connector and mounting rails are formed as contact area and cut-outs on the baseboard, there are no additional costs for the device.
The module executes all communication tasks autonomously, independent of the application processor of the target device. The exchange of the process data to the host processor is done via a 16kByte Dual-Port-Memory, either as one-lane PCI Express, 8-/16-bit parallel bus or as 50 MHz SPI interface.
netJACK allows the usage of all major Fieldbus and Real-Time Ethernet protocols as Master or Slave.
Exactly one hardware supports all Industrial Ethernet protocols, which is equipped with two Ethernet ports for line topology. A change of the communication protocol is done by simply loading a different firmware and adding a software license for master functionality.
All netJACK modules have the same dimensions and are pin-compatible to each other. Thus, exactly one baseboard design covers the whole range of network protocols. Thanks to the common Hilscher Platform strategy, all netJACK modules have the same interfaces and use the same device driver and tools.
